About

The TSR Alumni

TSR (Tactical Studies Rules) employed hundreds of creators over two decades. These weren’t just employees—they were the architects of gaming culture. They designed the adventures you played: Ravenlost, Tomb of Horrors, Keep on the Borderlands, Against the Giants. They created the worlds you explored: Greyhawk, Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, Planescape, and Ravenloft. They wrote the rules you learned: Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Gamma World, Boot Hill, Top Secret, and Star Frontiers. They drew the art you remember: Player’s Handbook covers, module illustrations, Dragon Magazine spreads, monster manuals. They edited the books you collected: Making sure every stat block was accurate, every spell made sense, every adventure could actually be played

Time Is Running Out

There are only ~160 TSR alumni still alive. Most are in their 60s, 70s, and 80s. D&D is more popular than ever—but the people who built it are being forgotten. Critical Role has millions of viewers. Baldur’s Gate 3 won Game of the Year. Gen Con draws 70,000+ attendees. But how many fans know who designed Ravenloft? Who edited the Player’s Handbook? Who playtested the original rules? Every year, we lose more of these voices. Every convention appearance preserves stories that exist nowhere else.

Authentic Stories

These aren’t secondhand tales or fan theories. TSR alumni lived inside the creative chaos—working with Gary Gygax, debugging rules at 2 AM, arguing about spell balance, shipping products on impossible deadlines.

• They can tell you: How D&D almost didn’t survive
• What it was really like working at TSR
• How classic adventures were designed
• The stories behind iconic artwork
• What got cut from published products

Professional Experience

TSR alumni aren’t just nostalgic fans—they’re industry professionals with decades of experience:

• Playtesters who broke (and fixed) every system
•Game designers who understand mechanics and balance
•Editors who crafted clear, playable rules
•Artists who defined D&D’s visual language
•Writers who created memorable characters and worlds

Fan Connection

TSR alumni love gaming as much as your attendees do. They’ve been to hundreds of conventions. They run game sessions. They sign autographs. They answer questions for hours.

They’re not distant celebrities—they’re gamers who helped build the hobby and want to celebrate it with fans.
